Alma Pixel CO2 is an advanced, highly flexible CO2 laser system for carbonization-free soft tissue ablation, excision, incision and coagulation. Using the power of the carbon dioxide laser, Pixel CO2 offers unique control and dosing of the ablative and/or thermal effect of the system, a wide variety of applicators and various treatment modes to perform a wide variety of procedures, providing some of the better results in improving skin imperfections, resulting from skin aging.

What treatments is it used in?

  • Wrinkles
  • Vaginal rejuvenation (Femilift)
  • Skin spots or age spots
  • Uneven skin tone or texture
  • Sun damaged skin
  • Scars caused by acne, chickenpox, or injuries
  • Onychomycosis (nail fungus)
  • Dark circles and bags
  • Veins and varicose veins in the legs

If you have fine lines or wrinkles around the eyes, in the mouth or on the forehead, shallow acne scars or skin that does not respond after a facial, then you may be a good candidate for treatment. If you have acne or very dark skin, you may not be a candidate. This technique is also not recommended for stretch marks. You should discuss whether the treatment is right for you by consulting with your doctor or dermatology specialist before undergoing any such procedure.

The two types of lasers most used in skin rejuvenation are carbon dioxide (CO2) and erbium yag. Each laser vaporizes damaged skin cells at the surface level.

This method has been used for years to treat different skin problems, including wrinkles, scars, warts, enlarged oil glands in the nose, and other conditions. The new version of the CO2 laser for resurfacing (fractional CO2) uses very short energy pulsed light (also known as ultra-pulsed) or continuous light beams delivered in a sweeping pattern to remove thin layers of skin damaged by heat minimum. Recovery takes up to two weeks.

Start by consulting a plastic surgeon or dermatologist to find out if you are a good candidate. Be sure to choose a doctor who has documented training and experience in the skin. Your doctor will determine which laser treatment is best for you after considering your medical history, current health, and desired results. Tell your doctor if you have cold sores or fever sores around your mouth. Skin rejuvenation treatment can trigger breakouts in some people. If you decide to have treatment, your doctor will ask you to avoid taking any medications or supplements that may affect clotting, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or vitamin E, for approximately 10 days before surgery. If you smoke, you should stop for two weeks before and after the procedure. Smoking can prolong skin healing. Your doctor may prescribe an antibiotic beforehand to prevent bacterial infections and also an antiviral medication if you are prone to cold sores or fever sores.
